I'm a proud and happy "mom" to two adorable cats named Callie and Tigger. They provide endless hours of amusement. Most of the time they're adorable and sweet but at other times, they can be a real pain in the proverbial you know what.
Here's their official introduction since there simply won't be anyway to avoid talking about them.
Callie and I have been together for about 12 years. I got her at 6 months from the local humane society. She crawled on my neck and purred. Love at first site. I original though her name was so unique. A fan of the show Allie McBeal which was quite popular at the time, I combined Allie with Callico to come up with Callie. Shortly thereafter I figured out this wasn't all that special, but Callie definitely is.
Callie is a princess. Less than 9.5 lbs her enitre life, she knows shes beautiful. Everyone tells her so (not just me!). She sits demurely, with her legs posed ever so delicately. She likes to be attended to and requests turn down service when she jumps onto my bed at night. Callie is at times shy and aloof. If she goes up to say hi to someone, it's a big deal.
She can also be quite the bitch. Head butting me is her favorite form of entertainment. She also LOVES to torment Tigger. More about that another time.
Tigger joined the family about 3 years after Callie. I went with a friend who was ready to adopt a new kitty with no intentions of getting a second cat. Alas, maternal instincts got the better of me. Tigger was the only kitten I looked at. She jumped all over me - hence how she got her name. I was powerless to resist. FYI, Tigger is a girl though most people assume she's a boy because of the original character.
Tigger is one of the crazy cats that think she's a dog. Her antics and activity level are polar opposite of Callie. She's outgoing, into people and loves to play as well as get into all sorts of things - including trouble.
Ironically, despite her outgoing personality, when it comes to Callie she's the beta cat in the household. There are times, that no matter what I do or say, she defers to Callie's demands. Oh yeah, she's also a couple of pounds heavier than Callie which at their size is quite a lot.
More tales and tribulations of Callie and Tigger to come.
